HyperSpatial™ is SoundFellas’ proprietary perceptual audio framework. Engineered for how people perceive sound and developed for future-proof format support.
HyperSpatial™ allows for the delivery of believable sonic experiences in any format and listening scenario: From stereo and surround to higher-order ambisonics and object-based formats like Dolby Atmos or MPEG-H. And from domestic entertainment systems to smartphones, headphones, cinema theaters, fulldomes, custom installations, and any other listening scenario. It can easily adapt to formats that don’t exist yet with minimal adjustments.
HyperSpatial™ is philosophically focused on these questions:
This shifts production focus from:
HyperSpatial™ cares how perception organizes sound as much as how engines render it, and treats audio as an interaction with human attention and expectation.
Think of HyperSpatial™ like VFX but for sound, combined with a design system based on psychoacoustics and human perception.
We build believable composites by positioning audio sources in a virtual 3D space complete with acoustic simulations, including reverberation, distance, humidity, temperature, air density, occlusion, and more.
Immersion is kept scientifically valid by applying principles from acoustics and psychoacoustics.

We use forensic audio techniques to clean sound sources of residual acoustics and recording artifacts – removing environmental reverb, microphone and preamp coloration, Doppler effects from moving sources, and other distortions, before compositing.
This produces pure source signals that approximate how the source sounds in an anechoic chamber, ensuring that when implemented into virtual scenes everything sound natural and believable, and is easily localized by the listener.
When it comes to creating sonic worlds, sound sources are only half the content. Natural sound behavior and location realism comes from the acoustics of the scene.
Using Scene Analysis and proprietary technology we produce the reverb and occlusion simulation for the structures and materials of any scene, plus we simulating distance damping relative to temperature and humidity.
it’s about designing sound that behaves the way human perception expects a world to behave.

When rendering to lower spatial resolution formats, our proprietary HyperSpatial PsyFold™ psychoacoustic filters are applied to preserve cues of height and depth, ensuring that even simpler formats – like 5.1 surround, stereo, or mono – retain the perception of distance, elevation, and occlusion.
This means HyperSpatial™ outputs retain their perceptually immersive features even on smartphones or other handheld devices.
AuthorNorm™ is our loudness normalization protocol for asset used in authoring and in combination with the HyperSpatial™ framework, they allow us to normalize any audio asset at pre-authoring production stages in levels that mimic sound in nature.
This adda an extra level of believability in the sonic experience, as background ambiences sound natural providing the anchor reference for the perceived dimensions of the rest of the sounds.

Our HyperSpatial Worlds™ series of sound libraries, features ambiences produced using HyperSpatial™, plus all the assets to make your own. Other libraries might also use HyperSpatial™ in various stages of production, check for the HyperSpatial™ logo to confirm.
When we’re producing assets for your game, creating the sound of your movie, or mix your music or audio drama – we do it using HyperSpatial™. Talk to us to discuss how HyperSpatial™ can benefit your project and the various stages we can implement it for you.
Are you developing an audio plugin or virtual instrument? How about an audio service, tool, ecosystem, or other media tools and services (i.e. video player). We can help you implement HyperSpatial™ to your product’s components – making it stand out of the competition.
Are you developing simulation and training systems? It doesn’t mater whether you do it in for traditional media or immersive media like VR/AR/MR. HyperSpatial™ can make any sonic experience feel believable and natural, further boosting immersion and learning.
Do you produce sound libraries? You can outsource any production stage to SoundFellas and give your assets the HyperSpatial™ treatment. If your library conforms to the HyperSpatial™ standards, you can use of the HyperSpatial™ logo to promote your library.
The HyperSpatial™ perceptual audio framework can help bring highly believable sonic experiences to your audiences. If you think that HyperSpatial™ can benefit your product or service, we’ll be glad to discuss options with you and your team.
